Boris Johnson joked about 'most unsocially distanced party in the UK'

Partygate was one of the main things that pushed me into the political view that laws in general exist for the benefit of the powerful without really binding them as individuals rather than having a concrete foundation on the principles of justice. The pandemic measures in general made me lose a lot of respect for the law as an institution of society rather than a stick to prod it with at the desperate whim of leaders who have no idea what they’re doing.

I think the conspiracy theorists somewhat missed the point, they were desperate to see some level of order in the chaos where there was none at all. In reality we have a more or less insular political class with a massive superiority complex and fuck all real talent. I genuinely think drawing our politicians from the same stagnant pool of ideology has had the same effect on Parliament as inbreeding has had on pugs and bulldogs.
