Boss asked us for $ to throw a pizza party

This is BULLSHIT. How is the company not paying for a couple hundred dollars worth of pizza for God’s sake? I’d say “I can’t pitch in, I’ve got several bills that are due” Don’t apologize or appear sorry, because you shouldn’t be sorry! They shouldn’t be asking employees to pay for a company lunch.

Posts like this not only piss me off, they make me truly appreciate my job and my boss SO much. yesterday was my birthday and I got to choose what we ordered for lunch. I chose my favorite sushi restaurant in the city and my boss ponied up $290 for a ridiculous amount of sushi on Postmates without hesitation (for only 3 people who were in the office today, we ordered a LOT of sushi, too much in fact - I’m still stuffed.) Plus I got a $200 Visa birthday gift card from the company that my boss pays for, none of the employees are having to pitch in for another employee’s gift or for lunch, we all get the same thing (gift card) on our b-days and we get to choose the restaurant we get takeout from, all from my boss who is very generous.

Companies that ask their employees to pay for company-wide pizza parties are just cheap, there’s no other word for it. They’ve got some nerve.
