Boston Ex-Pats: What did you miss when you left New England?

Wow, I could have written this post. I also just found out I'm moving back to Denver just after the new year, also after having been in Boston for 10 years. So, this post will be more about what I anticipate missing and how I plan to make the most of my remaining time.

I've been feeling burned out on a lot of things about Boston lately, so I feel pretty ready for it, but I am going to miss being on the water. I planning to spend the rest of the summer trying to be near or on the water as much as humanly possible.

I also want to spend time in other states and take advantage of being somewhere I can see so many different places with so little travel time. I plan to take a last weekend trip to NYC for sure. Definitely the Maine coast.

I'm a big seafood fan, so I'll be eating lots of that before I return to a place where Red Lobster is considered a legitimate choice for good fish.

I really don't know other than that. Lately I've been noticing the things I don't love about the city: the constant, constant sound of honking horns; the aggro drivers; the population density; the assorted horrors of working near Fenway Park during baseball season; the clueless rudeness of a few people on public transit who make the experience unpleasant for everyone around them. Mostly, I'd like to spend my remaining time here remembering and reconnecting with the things that made me fall in love with Boston, enough to leave behind everything and everyone I knew to move here ten years ago.

Good luck with your move, man.
