It’s hit or miss with the Mexican products IME. I’ve played stellar MIMs and I’ve played duds. I bought this because I couldn’t pass it up and the pickups had to be the first thing to go. The electronics are definitely a way for Fender to cut costs so that was an obvious decision. I can’t overstate enough how drastic the quality in tone was from the stock pups to these new fender ultras. I have a Yamaha BB734a that sounds great and was better than the MIMJ before the upgrade but now it blows the Yamaha out of the water sonically. If you are unhappy with what you are getting from yours I would highly highly recommend looking into replacing.
