Bourbons before the hype.

Not bourbon, but Japanese whiskey (in Japan) which went/is going through a very similar crazed phase as bourbon.

I used to work in Japan, about ten years ago, Japanese whiskey popularity was just heating up. Back then a ~12ish year age stated bottle would be like $50, and ~18 year would be like $100~150.

My boss at the time really started stocking up on Japanese whiskey around 2015. He eventually left Japan with a collection of 10ish bottles of various limited editions and 18/21 of yamazaki, hakushu and hibiki (and many other Japanese bottles).

He gave me a bottle of limited edition yamazaki as a parting gift, drank it at a New Years party without remembering anything lol.
