Bowling Green ATO raises money for local food pantry. BGSU students find it offensive.

"I’m sorry to say: This article was written horrendously, and from what your article says .you would rather see, your article literally is doing the opposite action to make that a reality. I understand you have more experience than most people do about homelessness. Instead of using your knowledge to improve this organizations’ attempt to help, you tore it down. Positivity breeds positivity. A better article would have praised these young men’s attempts to help the problem, and suggest different alternatives. Keep in mind these are people aged 18-22. I noticed you made a point to describe homeless people with the #1 adjective “smart”. Sometimes, smart people just need a little direction. These young, soon-to-be-graduates, just need some education and direction. They do not need their organization or efforts defamed and possibly subject to punishments because they saw a problem and wanted to try and help solve it. Why is it in the middle of campus? The same reason breast cancer awareness is a just cause, awareness is key to changing a problem. You can’t fix what you don’t know about. By the logic used in this article, the ALS ice bucket challenge is equally negative. However, we both know that the money and awareness generated from going viral made some real progress. Fraternities today get a lot of flack, sometimes rightfully so, but recently allegations are getting absurd. I see that you’ve apologized (somewhat) after the negative comments. I believe you need to issue a public apology letter to this organization. There are a group of men that tried to make a difference for the better in this world through organization and planning, and now they have been told their attempt did the opposite of what it set out to do. Ouch. (I don’t believe is true. I believe a couple students walked by, became more aware, and maybe did end up having that conversation with someone that is homeless. I know I ran a fraternity for two years and I have had those conversations with homeless people, partly because of awareness campaign raised on my campus by another campus fraternity attempting to do a similar act except they build little houses for a week in the middle of campus. Same original idea, just a little more progressed! Remember: positivity breeds positivity! :)"
