Boy in notorious Rehtaeh Parsons photo talks for first time about what happened

Um, no? Because the court heavily relied on her submission in their finding.

Actually, yes.

The Butler decision and the Dworkin case do not have any precedent with regards to the Rehtaeh Parsons case. Neither involved an alleged sexual assault, the primary issue surrounding the Parsons case, and neither involved the distribution of nude photographs involving a person under the age of 18, which is the secondary issue surrounding the Parsons case. Furthemore these cases, and the writings of Catharine MacKinnon, had no bearing on the age of consent laws in Canada. And again, I never suggested that our laws were different or immune to any perceived negative influences because they are written in "Canadian" and not "US".

You do know that you live in a country that uses common law, in which the interpretation of the law essentially sets the way the law is being used? Especially if a Supreme Court makes a finding towards a particular law, right?

You seem to have a mistaken view about how common law works. Interpretations of the law can be presented in court to compel a judge or jury when a law is first being tried in court, but subsequent cases are critically influenced by the precedent set by those initial cases if the circumstances are similar and not just vaguely related. This is one of the reasons that a fair and honest judgement of Canadian law is determined by considering the verbiage of those laws and how the courts apply them, rather than the writings of a third-party, such as Catharine MacKinnon.

And you keep continuing saying nothing of value or fact.

And I'm done here. I've been respectful of you, and addressed your posts on their merits. I have not made any derogatory comments about you or the quality of your posts. I have not been snarky or subtly rude. I asked you once to show me the same respect, but clearly you have no intention of doing so. If you intended to convince me to accept your views, you have failed. And if you intended to convince other redditors to accept your views, judging by the downvotes you have failed at that as well. Your writing, and your posts, have been little more than an exercise in pandering to your ego.
