Boyfriend convinced me to start collecting

My boyfriend /u/drummerboy10000 is an avid vinyl collector, and recently convinced me to start my own little collection. So far, I’ve acquired these three. (Collecting is expensive! Especially for a poor college kid haha.)

First up is The Decemberists- What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World. This one is by far my favorite to listen to and it’s my favorite visually. My quality is kinda crappy but there are some cool etchings on the fourth side, along with some optional artwork sleeves. I’m into hipster/indie bands, and The Decemberists were a band I forgot about until I saw this album! This is an emotional album for me for a few reasons, and I’m super glad to own it on vinyl.

Next is The Velvet Underground album. I know a lot of people have this album, and I wanted it because I love Andy Warhol and I also love nostalgic late 60s/early 70s sounding music. I grew up with my Dad playing records from his childhood (so early Beatles, Beach Boys, Monkees, etc.) and it reminds me of being a little kid, dancing with him in the living room. This album always makes me happy, partly because of the first track Sunday Morning. It’s just a ‘feel good’ album for me.

Lastly is the Interpol single, with Everything Is Wrong and What is What. I like Interpol, but I mostly bought this for the Shepard Fairey artwork. (There is a pattern with my vinyls…hmm..) I thought it was a cool piece to have, and it was only like $10 so I decided it wouldn’t burn too big of a hole in my wallet.

All of these were purchased at Newbury Comics, Velvet Underground & Interpol on Record Store Day (a while ago) and The Decemberists a few weeks ago. I’m excited to continue collecting!

(Also, sorry for the poopy potato quality of some photos….my phone is slowly falling apart)
