boyfriend is wounded, claiming self defense on DV charges.

NAL, but domestic abuse survivor. The guilt of putting someone you love in jail is real. It makes you second guess everything. That being said, having video evidence of him putting you in a choke hold is a blessing. I would highly recommend sending it to the police. They will use it.

Also- you are doing the right thing. I didn’t have strong enough evidence in my abuse case and the police just let it sit after I reported him. 6 months later, I got a call from the cops. My ex had choked his new girlfriend almost unconscious and barricaded her in a room with cement blocks. The cops wanted to (finally) press charges from me against him. Abusers repeat their actions on other people. I never believed it when people said it to me. I though it was just our relationship, or the way I treated him that made him act crazy. But the truth is- it was always him. Sending that video now could save another woman a lot of trauma, and possibly save her life.
