And if the question is "who watches the watchmen?" then, well... who is watching The Boys? If power universally corrupts, wouldn't their acquired power make them exactly as bad as the capes they fight? If so, why are we cheering them at all? If not, then doesn't the message just round out to "you should use your power for the greater good, not your own satisfaction"? That undercuts its deconstruction: that is just a straight superhero theme. Just in an edgy, satirical context
