BREAKING NEWS: Chico mayor requests state allow use of fairgrounds to shelter homeless

Homeless are probably always going to be with us, but it's growing at an alarming rate and the current economy and housing situation is not helping.

We shouldn't help the homeless because we don't have the resources to help them. We don't have the resources to help them because there are too many of them. There are too many of them because we aren't helping them. We aren't helping them because we don't have the resources. We don't have the resources because there are too many of them. And so on... the cycle is a never ending feedback loop.

That's why this argument that if we help people, only more will show up is faulty circular logic, dehumanizes the problem and solves nothing. I'm convinced that the leading reason for homelessness in this country is just plain selfish human nature and out natural tendency to avoid needy people.
