BREAKING: Number of properties to rent has halved since 2019, reveal agents

Brother, the rent is £1200 as it’s supported accommodation. If she works, she has to pay £800-£900 pound on rent, among the other charges they have (grounds maintenance, cleaners, water and electric charges etc). You simply cannot work while living in that hostel without becoming homeless during the process. She wants to work with children as she went through severe trauma herself and wants to help others like her. A life on benefits is not the life she wants to live, but be put in her shoes, you live among 30 other teenagers and young adults who have ended up at the YMCA due to homelessness. The only way out of there is to be accepted for a flat, or have your parents take you back in so you can get a job and save up for your own place. Sadly she has no family to fall back on. The ONLY choice she’s had for 3 years is to wait to be accepted for a 1 bed flat, once that happens she’s more than determined to get a job with children as she went through severe trauma and thinks her lease of life is to help others that went through similar. I wish it was as simple as her starting her career now and saving up for her own place but I wish you could see the situation in full. Mental health, suicidal ideations, self harm, eating disorder, being told you shouldn’t work unless you want to be made homeless. It’s a fucked up system, but it’s not gonna stop her once she manages to get outta there
