[Breeds]Are lhasa apsos good companion / lap dogs ?

Haha I have a Lhasa and I’ll tell you what mine is like:

He’s independent, but still clingy don’t worry. He can’t NOT be in the same room as you. He’s not a snuggle bug; he doesn’t demand attention. He just curls up right next to you and sleeps. And if you get up and move somewhere else, he’ll follow and go back to sleep next to you again. Subtle love lol

Great watchdog, bad guard dog. He was socialized a lot with many different strangers and dogs so he naturally became very friendly with other people and animals. His best friend is actually my neighbors cat.

Stubborn af though, will only do tricks when it benefits him, and I swear he has selective hearing. These two aspects are probably somethings you can’t change XD

The only time my Lhasa snaps is when he gets intimidated by a larger dog getting hyper around him and rough housing him. He gets overwhelmed so he snaps to let them know of his boundaries. But otherwise no aggression whatsoever. He even is very patient with kids.

My advice is: get a Lhasa puppy and socialize socialize socialize so that it learns how to behave around other dogs. Not just to the same dog park but take different routes and have it meet new people and dogs a lot. And it’ll be a great pet!

Oh also, don’t baby him. Small dog owners tend to baby their small dogs by being over protective or picking them up unnecessarily, etc. it’s how most small dogs get that “big dog in a small dog” personality. Just treat it normally and it’ll grow up just fine.
