Brexit ruling: Supreme court announces its article 50 judgment - Politics live | Politics

This is undeniably a good thing for us all. It doesn't mean Brexit won't happen it just means that if it happens it will be done and decided by the people we elect to make political decisions.

Therein lies the important part of our system. If Brexit happens and it is a massive failure then we will know exactly who is responsible. Every MP who said Yes lets Leave will be on record forever. So remember to contact your MP about this issue and let your voice be heard whether you want to stay or leave. We are a democracy.

If I put my tinfoil hat on for a bit it feels slightly strange that May was pushing so hard to try and trigger article 50 herself. Its almost as if... she is the chosen scapegoat. So if she does it and all goes to hell afterwards the Tories and all their elected MP's can say... well it wasn't us who did that it was that leader we got rid of right afterwards! Or if it happens and it somehow goes well then they can then claim ownership of it, saying it was their Government who did it.

But I usually reserve my tinfoil for /r/asoiaf so I'll stop.
