Brexit: Theresa May to open Brexit plan amendments debate

Why?

The EU has elections this year. For the same reason it is beneficial for Tory's to not blink, its beneficial for the EU to stand firm. There is NO reason for the EU to give the UK a good deal.

The EU doesn't care about looking obstinate though, do they? First, they don't care about UK optics if you're not in the union anymore. secondly, they have to send a strong message on the UK to prevent other countries from leaving the EU.

My outside view is that it is in the EU's best interest to either get the UK to stay, or to make it as painful as humanly possible for the UK on their way out the door to send a message to other countries thinking about leaving.
