They’re not designed to go viral. Of course you share them with people but most from what I’ve seen don’t do it with the intent of it getting jpeg’d and reposted somewhere else. It’s not like raising a butterfly, watching it hatch from its cocoon and just letting it out into the wild to do whatever. It’s like painting a picture, then watching someone else show it to their friends and they compliment them as if they were the one who painted it, even if they never said they did.

It’s fine if you don’t care if your memes are stolen, I usually don’t if mine just have captions on them which is rare. But you should respect the people who might want their credit attached to the thing they made.
