What do you want from them? They play the dead music better than the dead did their last year. John Mayer is consistently good. Jerry was good but he made a lot of mistakes. John Mayer every day easily beats Jerry on a bad day. The scene is still alive. It’s amazing how many young people are getting into it. Shakedown grows in size with every show. This last tour closer was absolutely phenomenal. They’ve played plenty of new songs and they bust out songs the dead never played. And that’s only going to keep happening more often. As someone who started seeing dead shows in 81, I absolutely think that every bit of the magic is still there. This is the dead. It is alive. And it is thriving.
