Bringing awareness to an already well known cause does little to help it.

I think the difference becomes ‘performative activism’ and awareness. I agree that simply only doing 22 push ups to support raising awareness to veterans and suicide rates and nothing beyond that is completely unproductive, but if no one talked about it, nothing would get done. A lot of the social issues currently in society are easy capitalism traps for companies to capitalize off of (ie Yoplait yogurt caps and breast cancer awareness) so it’s easy for people to think they’re doing good because they donated money. That’s just performative and not helpful at all. If someone is actively educating and spreading awareness with proper resources about a well known issue, then it’s more helpful than just doing 22 pushups.
