You misread the statistics ‘As of 2019 an estimated 673 million people practice open defecation,[5]: 74  down from about 892 million people (12 percent of the global population) in 2016.[6] In that year, 76 percent (678 million) of the people practicing open defecation in the world lived in just seven countries.[6]’ I’d be optimistic and hope that maybe in last 3 years it’s gone down that 50 million. Considering the population of India is staggering 1.4 BILION people and how far back into the primal living huge majority of the country is still stuck in- it will take many decades of extreme measures to take your entire population down to only 50 million people.
