Brother with OCD has made no progress, got worse.

I understand. But, I'm not sure if he really is concerned with contamination even though he really seems to make it seem like he is. The way it seems to me, it is like he is pretending to be preoccupied with it when in reality it doesn't concern. Why do I say that... Well, here's the thing. Would you live in a room full of trash? Would you leave food out in your room for long periods of time? Would you agree to eat out of a bowl that hasn't been washed in ages? I think any person with genuine contamination fears would answer no to those questions. But those are all things that he also has a habit of doing. While on the one hand it seems he is really worried about washing his hands, on the other hand he has been hoarding the most disgusting trash into his room, there is food left out everywhere, and the bowl he insists on eating from, he refuses to have it washed, he always uses the same bowl, and it's never cleaned. Also his shower looks disgusting but he still spends a lot of time in the shower. His entire bathroom actually looks like a nightmare, there's usually surgical scrub spilled all over the counter. I mean just from a contamination standpoint alone he, in my opinion, would not be able to cope with living in a room that is not clean. I suspect that if his room were properly cleaned and the trash removed we'd find all sorts of bugs in there, but he won't let anyone into his room. For as much as he claims to be concerned with cleanliness, he doesn't prove it. So, yea, things don't add up. There's a lot of contradictions and they don't make any sense. I mean, it would help if he cleaned up more, but he does the opposite. He uses rubbing alcohol on everything, but he still constantly makes a mess and then lives in the mess. My best guess is that the chemicals are kind of like a mask, if the house smells like bleach we can assume he is being clean, but then he's not being clean at all. It's very confusing. In my opinion, he also tends to use the strong chemicals to push people away, because the fumes are literally so intense I can't even be in the same room without gagging. And he has a habit of leaving the chemical soiled trash in the kitchen so then it becomes hard to even eat in the kitchen because the fumes are so harsh.
