Bs Pharmacy or Bs Biology?

Hello! BS Pharma here but I'm not a med student (yet or maybe will not all tho huhu) anyway, I can give you some good stuff about BS Pharma in UST.

We are studying drug treatments and we are already centered in patient care. Advantage ang Pharmacology (I overheard this from med students who are Pharmacy graduates) , Medicinal Chemistry, Biochemistry (meron din naman ata sa Bio ng Biochem course, pero yon haha meron din sa pharma tas often, our prof relate it to pharmacy kaya there are MoAs of drugs, diseases, etc. that are discussed in this course), Pharmacotherapy, Clinical Pharmacy (pinaka-med related na naging course namin kasi may diseases na dinidiscuss dito plus the treatment guidelines for patients), Pharmaceutical Microbiology, etc. Sabi nila, at least you don't have to study so much about other stuff although they are very important too such as Ecology, Zoology, Botany... Prerequisite siya for Pharmacognosy which focuses on the compounds present in the plants and their uses)

Sa hirap, I think parehas namang mahirap ang BS Bio and BS Pharma. Kahit mapa UP, UST, or ADMU pa. :( I don't mean to be a downer but I'll explain later.

I think, you also have to consider the med school you want. If this is true, I think UST (and even Ateneo and UP) will give priority to their own students. Meaning, kung grad ka ng UST Pharma at nag apply ka sa UST Med and given na maganda naging performance mo sa UST and NMAT (at least 85 ata?) , they will accept you more than other applicants.

Also consider the career options. What do you want to do in case ayaw mo pala mag-Medicine? Ikaw na lang magresearch for this one. I have classmates who dont want to go to Med anymore...

Other than those that I have mentioned, baka lamang na ang ADMU. Hahahahaha yun lang, good luck!!
