Budget Mayael [EDH] ($25-$35), Need Suggestions - X-Post from r/MagicTCG

Hey, I've already got a budget Mayael the Anima deck and it's one of my absolute favorites! My budget was a little higher (I was aiming for below $75) but I'll only recommend the items that are on the cheaper end of the spectrum out of my list.

You can easily cut [[Mirri's Guile]]. I put it in to help stack your deck so you draw what you want and keep what you want to cheat into play with Mayael on top of your library. But [[Crystal Ball]] does basically the same thing, with the added bonus of tucking stuff you don't need.

[[Illusionist's Bracers]] is KING in this deck. You need it.

I agree with your assessment about the fatties. I have relatively dirt cheap fatties, and they get shit done. Top recommendations here go to [[Molten Primordial]] cuz he can end the game, [[Gruul Ragebeast]] because he turns your whole deck into removal, [[Soul of the Harvest]] because he provides you a lot of card draw, and [[Hoard-Smelter Dragon]] because (situationally) he can end the game on his own. But please feel free to look at my list and check out the fatties I've got, cuz they all put in work.

I'm a big fan of two-mana ramp in this deck, because on turn three the only thing you want to do is play Mayael. My recommendations go to the three on-color signets, [[Rampant Growth]], [[Druid of the Anima]], [[Farseek]], and the man himself [[Sakura-Tribe Elder]].

Please feel free to check out my list for more suggestions. All I'll say is that budget Mayael is fairly consistent and reasonably competitive against non-budget, traditional EDH decks, so have fun kicking ass for less than $50!
