Building a Brewer's Collection

Best question maybe: Should I just try to build one deck at a time?

My not overly informed humble opinion: Yeah, this seems better. You'rere talking about brewing in modern, a format getting hit with high-profile reprints a couple times a year. Every time the new core sets come out, or a masters set drops, you'll feel the burn of paying premiums for something you haven't even gotten around to using yet. Tossing hundred dollar bills in a box and watching them become tens or twenties is not fun no matter what your hobby is.

If you start with a basic 3color deck which will greed out for many high impact staples, you'll get a collection in no time. I get the idea of being able to last minute brew and sleeve it up immediately, but there's few ways to look at, if any, that put being a nimble brewer higher than being a resourceful player.

It might be good to give yourself time to play the cards and get to know them. Make small tweaks and learn synergies. Buying all the staples at once, feels more like what a netdecker would do. No problem with that at all, but brewing needs time to become comfortable with the cards and practice matchups.

You could add a new deck every month if you really wanted to, keep the options fresh, but buying modern cards at their peeks these days has to be super feels bads. Looking out for stuff like reprints on Horizon Canopy and Magus of the Moon to pick up will maybe unlock brewing starting points. Getting a high powered card for the first time will be something to focus on. Getting everything at once would be great, sure, but 4x Modern staples is already ludicrous when staring down inevitable reprints, not to mention you still don't have actual cards to brew around, you just have the top already-discovered ~best~ cards or build-arounds. So you'll still be ordering stuff and waiting for it to arrive.

Idunno. It would feel cool to have every card for a format. But from a brewing perspective, that's a way taller order than say just the top 10 gauntlet it feels. Maybe I don't 100% understand what your going for, or maybe you only have two colors or something you like to brew in, and I'm all nonsense. Either way, good luck! At the very least your getting some rad games in and enjoying yourself!
