Building robot McDonald's staff 'cheaper' than hiring workers on minimum wage

Well let's see, I have a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Computer Science. I have studied Artificial Intelligence, databases, computability/complexity/algorithms and the list goes on and on. I have also been a professional software engineer for over 10 years.

When I automate a task for my company, they don't fire the people who used to do it manually. Instead, those people can now use more of their time for more complex things instead. These tools now automate one small task that was rudimentary and tedious in their job and now they are free to do NEW things.

So I am far from ignorant, in fact I am highly educated and technology has proven to create jobs. Just because some autonomous truck is created which displaces truck drivers around America doesn't mean there aren't new jobs that are created directly involving autonomous vehicles/management/creating/programming etc.

The difference between you and me is more than just your ignorance, it's that I have factual evidence on my side and you are just terrified that you will be obsolete because you are a luddite and terrified of technology. The people who don't have jobs are the ones who learn a skill once in their life and literally can't adapt. I pity you because while I will always and forever have a job (because of my high skill set and the requirement that I constantly learn new things), you may not always have a job unless you embrace the fact that if your job is going to be meaningless task in the future, you should be working on a new skill now.
