Has Bungie's attempt to diversify and equalise/balance the weapon pool in Destiny 2 made it so that nothing is truly unmissable or special anymore?

True, and I applaud that in a lot of ways. Having sunk 1k+ into each game, I know that D1's way was broken. You had to do certain things to progress, which as someone that never raided before D1, there was a huge mental obstacle to overcome with it that I did unwillingly because that's where the good stuff was. There was "GJALLARHORN OR KICK" everywhere, this doesn't happen now. I applaud that, all of it. I didn't raid or do any Nightfalls from Forsaken to 750. I applaud that too.

But my point is, nothing's really must-have anymore. You don't have to do any of those things to progress, which takes away a lot of the lustre of it. Aside from the triumph, there's absolutely no desire at all to go anywhere near Crown of Sorrow, which is a feeling I haven't had before (or are particularly alone in). It's because it doesn't matter anymore if you do or don't.
