Burger Records Shuts Down Completely

if u go to local shows it will typically be the same pool of bands playing and fans attending, in the same way rhat sports teams and their fans are always at the same events. a culture pops up around that because culture is inherent to humans gathering repeatedly. if u make, like, silly punk music, a disproportionate number of fans r probably gonna be kids even if the band is made of adults. the bands burger put out often either attracted kids or had actual kids in them (cherry glazerr when clem creevy was like 15 comes to mind, the garden were like 18, etc). burger records was a store in addition to a label and event promoter. they had a physical space where their bands and fans convened and it turned out the label and many individual bands whose work appealed to kids abused that fan/creator relationship. the culture (/the environment) of burgers combined records, shows, store, and following was built on the condition of (burger quote) "perma-teen", anything goes, being reckless and having fun no matter what etc, as lead by immature white guys in their 30s. if u tell a bunch of emotionally stunted men on their way to minor popularity that they can do anything they want, especially when they are surrounded by ppl with less power than them who admire them, they will abuse people. this is true anywhere and everywhere, it just came to light that a shit ton of men in burger records, an indie label with greater reach than their immediate local scene, were guilty of it all the way up the chain of command.
