This type of diplomatic negotiations are far from populism "KILL EVERYONE WHO ARE ON THE OPPOSITE ENDS OF POLITICAL SPECTRUM, KILL ANYONE THAT MY IDEOLOGY CAN TWIST AS AN ENEMY, KILL ANYONE TOO ECONOMICALLY LITERATE TO NOT FALL FOR OUR MEME & SLOGAN BASED LYNCH MOB" types. It is pure technocracy, and while it is in Indonesia's interests to negotiate and call a summit to deal with it, it will not be "populist" enough for a bludgeoning tool and therefore boring.
I, for one, trusts and unironically can trust Indonesia's (comparatively hypercompetent) Kemenlu than some populist morons.
