We come to bury ChatGPT, not to praise it.

That’s because I reply to all the comments to my parent comment which generally results in loads of comments about the same thing.

I didn’t say it can’t write code - it can - but it can only write trivial code - and often will output wrong code that is more work to check than just write yourself. This is a pretty explored component of chat gpt.

Building a “website” is indeed trivial. A competent webdev can make a basic site very very quickly. What matters in engineering is maintaining and extending that - and chatgpt can’t do that well.

There exist models that are better at programming than chat gpt but because of the way it works - it will just suggest plausible but wrong code often.
