Business Community Outlines Concerns Over “Zero Cases” COVID Strategy in Letter to Premier

The only cases we've had since April have been people coming directly off the plane from somewhere else. The virus is, effectively, not here. You're not going to catch it from standing too close to someone at Sobeys, you're not going to catch it if you're sitting one table away from someone in a restaurant, you're not going to catch it if you brush by someone on a walking trail. If it's not in the community, it's not in the community. This is where the continued restrictions have been too much - they're protecting us from a hypothetical harm that there is zero evidence for at this point. In March and early April, the heavy handedness made sense. If there's a resurgence, it will make sense again. But spooking everyone into behaving like the virus is hiding in the backseat of your car is not doing anyone any favours.
