Congrats, that’s a great revelation! One thing about your boss, does she not realize how lucky she is to be able to bring her kid into work? Does she expect all the employees to do that like her or doesn’t realize she’s incredibly fortunate? You’re way too considerate with your answers because I probably would have said “What if we had emergencies on the same day? We both couldn’t have our kids here or work wouldn’t get done!”

I have friends that basically one person’s salary covers the cost of daycare but they don’t care because they need to be out of the house. Then they say something like “Besides, it’s only until they’re ready for school.” (As if the cost of raising a child will lower or level off, it’s cute that they think it’s a temporary problem.) Other friends that have to put up with controlling in laws because they couldn’t manage without the “free” daycare.
