They're a lot more money, but the diesel platforms are significantly better on mileage as you well know. There's also significantly higher quality brands out there, you're just looking at $100k instead of $50k to get started.

As far as the gas mileage argument, I dunno, I guess it depends on what you're going for. If your goal is to be driving the majority of the time, then a barebones sleeping area while maximizing on-road comfort and efficiency makes sense.

If your goal is to live in a nomadic home on wheels, where you're staying in one spot for longer periods of time, the gas mileage is less a concern to me.
