Byron Jones just stratching the surface of how good he can be

Byron’s problem wasn’t about grading out well. He played well at safety 90% of the time. The problem was that his instincts in cover 2 were awful and several games were literally lost on defense because of his terrible help over the top and really poor angles when coming up to make crucial tackles. Definitely not replacement level like that guy said, but certainly a feast or famine safety. Corner has always made more sense. Take a top 5 athlete in the league and attach him to the hip of the opposing team’s best receiver. It’s amazing how good a guy looks when you use him in the way that every analyst said he’s most valuable. Only the Cowboys could have an All-Pro corner on their roster and use him at safety for two years just because hey he’s tall and athletic.
