Calgary to the island

Dude just come, trust me it's worth it. Yeah it's expensive but so what, you'll be paying bills one way or another for the rest of your life anyway.

I lived in Calgary for ten years and while I enjoyed it, I never knew how good it could feel to not have to work with winter snow for six months/year. Caution: it does rain a lot and can get depressing dec-jan-feb.

But legit it's worth it for the summers and you're one ferry ride away from either Vancouver or Seattle if you need to go to a real city. Plus if you're into outdoors, the entire west coast is at your doorstep; squamish, Whistler, down to Portland Oregon (8 hours away)

And every one here is so chill, even the bums are more docile haha. Warning: there is a shit ton of property theft due to overwhelming drug addicts in the area. And not just Vic either; you go over the Malahat to Duncan - drug addicts. Nanaimo: drug addicts. Cowichan Valley: drug addicts. Warm weather + generous social programs means every fuckup loser from across Canada settles on the island. You get the picture.

But depending on your lifestyle you'll love it here. I left Calgary in 2012 and haven't looked back. And not having insane traffic anymore! The city of Victoria is only 80,000 and the entire region is only 380,000. You can literally be in wilderness in 10 minutes.
