California amends rules to push vehicles toward hydrogen, electricity, biofuel - Utilities will earn credits for electric car charging stations and subsidize EV purchases.

If you're going to go from black to green, don't stop at dark brown. In many places that use carbon fuels for power you can get a solar roof, a PowerWall, and not only avoid guilt for carbon domestic power use but power your car as well.

You can opt out of the carbon fuel generation of electricity and motion. It is costly now, but every month the cost comes down.

It is not now necessary to make the half step to Hydrogen. Following the cost/demand curve I am prepared to predict that Hydrogen fuel cell technology in vehicles will not reach the level of support necessary to fund a national hydrogen distribution network. It will fail.

For some time it will continue to be federally supported. The government is slow to respond to trends, not at least because people going under are the most eager to buy a Congressman and stay afloat a little longer. Some people will earn money and more will steal it. But Hydrogen is already a walking corpse and most of the money sunk in it from this day forward will be lost forever.

This is a difficult call. There are many here who are vested interests who are going to downvote this. And there are many hopeful fools who see a potential path forward and believe in it enough to downvote also. I expect -27 or so. But I can speak my mind even when my opinion might be unpopular because I have been here for some time and contributed passingly well.

The paths are closed. Hydrogen will fail.
