[California] Disability and Employment Question

Wait where are you getting 60% from ? cuz it sounds like you’re talking about state disability which is short term and you can not work and collect that at the same time. If you pay separate at your work for LTD, which is long term disability a private plan you can usually get a couple of years. Or if this a permanent thing that’s SSI, and you would go to the social security website and see what you’re eligible for by inputting your social. You would have to have a disability they feel is long term will last more than a year, and that you can do no other work full time, example a desk job. It’s also based on age, the older you are the better chance you have of qualifying. A 55 year old person has a better chance than 35 because they feel older is closer to retirement and can’t be retrained as easy. So you definitely don’t want to be working. If you’re diagnosis is not in the blue book you will not qualify. Only after you qualify will you be able to get a part time job and usually they allow 1200 per month.
