A California woman was raped by an acquaintance on their first date and became pregnant. The DA declined to prosecute, so her rapist sued for visitation rights and won.

i don't really think that they're "inhuman". they are indeed not in favor of the "raped" woman (put in " because the case seems to be not clear, as far as i can tell through the comments here). in the end, just believing the woman in these kind of cases spawns just as many women calling out rape for actually consensual sex, just as always believing the men in these kind of cases would spawn rapists (sad world ...). neither way is the right way, so you have to look at each case individually without judging anyone beforehand.

and yes, of course mistakes in court can still happen and women or men go to prison or get punished for stuff they didn't do or they don't go to prison even though they committed a crime. but as said: keeping an open mind for the situation is important in EVERY case.

i personally didn't read the article at all, so this is just an overall opinion on law and the question of guilt, where one person committed a crime and there is only 1 witness on whose trust the entire case has to be built. and well, not having to mention anything, those are god damn complicated.

there are asshole rapists and manipulative bitches out there, and after all the judgement of what applies here is not up to us. it's up to the DA. and there's like nothing at all that we can change here about that, no matter what we do. if either side doesn't agree with the end of this lawsuit, they have to reapply the case again at a higher court (at least that's how it works in my country).

and while this isn't even a good system at all, it's still the best we've got, sadly. and well, saying that out loud is not inhuman, the system is. but again: come up with a better solution and we can try to make a change somehow if we like your idea ...
