Call to Action: Participate in this meeting tonight, 6pm Eastern Time (US): Is the United States ready to start a political movement for Basic income?

No clue what any Reddit lingo means. When I first saw your profile I noticed that same comment on at least two other threads & you trying to "highjack/contribute" to any and all active BI discussions in BI sub-reddit. I'm not knocking that, and I don't think it's offensive. It definitely takes dedication to be able to do that and I know that we share many of the same values deep down ("anarcho"-capitalists are not sociopaths who drink the blood of children; although sadly that's how they view Statists). In re: to what you've misrepresented, I will mention three: 1. The BI community does not propose giving every person 12k. Some propose that Adults receive 1000k and 300 per child monthly. 1200k/400 is also another popular proposal but this figure can range drastically depending on what new taxes the varying proposals/individuals call for. 2. As far as I know, BI movement has never touted "massive restructuring of federal welfare" as "the only option for funding a UBI." Maybe taxes are the devil and unpalatable to you, but most people (yes, even conservatives) have no problem upholding the evil State that supports them. If you prefer to sail against the wind, that's fine, but I believe that we already have a hard enough task; we don't need to make it impossible. In my personal opinion the BI movement shouldn't even spend time trying to appeal to Transhumanism, free-market libertarianism, and other fringe groups but instead should focus on populism and grass-roots organizing (the only proven method which achieves systemic change) to bring to the table as many demographics so that the next Congresses aren't so white and non-representative of the beneficiaries. I frankly couldn't care less about appealing to a bunch of college sophomores who think they're John Galt and can solve all the world's problems with their nifty widget now that they finally finished Atlas Shrugged. 3. Nobody will be placing men with guns on your street corner to make sure that "Comrade go1dfish" payed his tax or whatever you think will happen if a UBI is instituted and if we increased the tax rate on the super-rich to (gasp) 1960's levels. Guess what will happen in all likelihood the day UBI is instituted? Nothing. Your life will be just the same, except that at the end of that month you'll get an online banking e-mail confirming your BI has been deposited. You'll still have your job. The rich will be still be rich and getting richer. No gulags. No mustaches.

I am sorry to admit that I do indeed view "Taxation and the coercion it represents to be the only way an acceptable UBI is achievable" unless another method is proven to work more effectively. And not "proven" through Praxeology, but through actual studies and empirical data. Nonetheless, I do foresee us working together one day, when you finally realize that American "Libertarianism" is a fraudulent ideology whose roots are firmly based in promoting a pro-corporate agenda and that Rand is a terrible writer. Till that day my friend.
