Death penalty for apostasy, killing gays, treatment of foreigners, especially polytheists etc, things that are attributed to a "violent and incorrect form of Islam" also known as wahabbism (or other variants) is just standard practice in Islam (according to doctrine).

A man and his wife can't have anal because it's haram, and the only way homosexuals can have sex is through anal so it only makes sense that it's forbidden. Being homosexual isn't haram though. Just the act itself, just like adultery and fornication is haram. What's so hard to understand about that?
