Camouflaged police with assault weapons to patrol NT streets at night to reduce youth crime

You can walk in and be seen faster than a gp.

mental health is not that simple a fix. It's not like going to see a GP it usually requires many appointments in order to make any progress at all.

Yes you might have to wait a week to see a psychiatrist but that's a 300 dollar session for free.

And let me guess those are limited right?

I work in mental health in aboriginal communities. I do get people to open up. I have 20 ongoing aboriginal clients who would say the opposite of what you're assuming about me.

Well you're actually judging a large group of people and making sweeping judgments about them so I'm going to go ahead and say that you're just tooting your own horn.

Breaking out of poverty? What do you define as poverty? I've worked in Asia and Africa. That is poverty.

There is a such thing as relative poverty.

These people have housing, an income, phones etc

Shitty housing, a shitty income which the state chooses how they spend. And not enough get what they want out of their lives.

That's from government and then royalties come in every 3-6 months and that is enough money to "escape poverty" that is blown on a new car (that will be destroyed or discarded in 6 months), alcohol and gambling.

Escaping poverty doesn't happen with a lump sum. You're being really judgmental AGAIN. I'd ask you to stop but you probably wont.

I dont mean it literally will never change. But honestly I don't see binge drinking, fighting, "revenging" and tall poppy syndrome and expecting handouts leaving aboriginal culture too soon.

Sounds more like the result of poverty than anything inherent to Aboriginal people.

People like you like to defend Aboriginal people and make excuses after excuse and make demand after demand but sit back and do nothing.

Cause people like you wont let us. Plenty of people would love to provide proper community facilities and activities for kids, ways for them to get what they need if they don't have it. Help them experience some actual fun in their lives, but that costs too much apparently.

I just had a break in and the kid was caught. Seven years old. He stole stuff from me and went to my neighbours and stole his car and belongings. That kid won't get any punishment. Soon as he hits teenage hood he will do the same that he does wry other week and yes will end up locked up. But what other option is there? Every other option has been exhausted.

Cool, I'm guessing you did nothing to actually help the kid. \

Soon as he hits teenage hood he will do the same that he does wry other week and yes will end up locked up.

More of these judgmental assumptions. You're a boot on these peoples' necks more than you realize. Treat these kids like there is nothing to do but lock them up once they're old enough and this will continue to happen.

Every other option has been exhausted.

All the authoritarian options have been exhausted, it's time to do something a bit more compassionate and less dehumanizing.

I am out here making a difference and so are many people.

Good that doesn't mean you're doing the best you can or even a good job. Sometimes help can be misguided and it sounds like you as a person are very misguided. You wont even defend these people yet you think you're helping? Speak up for them where their voices wont be heard.

Stop robbing these people of personal responsibility and solely blaming government for the state of aboriginal culture and society.

I'm trying to give that to them.

No colonists had a big part in what happened. The government just hammered some nails in the coffin.
