Can any libertarians help me with this quandary?

Oh you did. My apologies again, not sure how I missed that reply.

You stated that each libertarian comes up with their own view, meaning the movement leaves it subjective. I even spoke with a libertarian who described the fetus as a renter in the mothers womb and can be evicted.

I'll admit the abortion question allows a person to fall into the metaphysical subjective territory, but we could always jump to the legal right of a parent to starve their baby to death (eliminating the metaphysical aspect).

Look I'll be open with you, as we seem to butt heads more often then not. I'm sure we agree on probably 95% of our beliefs. I'm an Objectivist and it's not so hidden that Objectivists hate libertarianism.

Most political movements don't try to define ethics and morals because they're in the business of growing the movement and getting votes. It's not really any different with the libertarian movement.

Where I clash is with the often short sighted, simplistic and often not well thought out views on freedom and individual rights. A libertarian would say 'less government is best', where an Objectivist would say 'the government should be as large as it needs to be to protect rights well". There are plenty of libertarians that take 'less government is best' to a literal end, when really the expression is merely tautology of current government.

Since libertarians are waving the flag of freedom and individual rights, I (along with other people) think libertarians are misrepresenting and doing a disservice to the ideas, often surrendering moral ground to people that are against individual rights.

That's where I'm coming from. It's not so much that I disagree with positions, but the thinking that leads to it.

This is me reaching out, trying to bridge the gap and hoping to have better understanding of my discourse.
