Can any puveyors of the dark art of plumbing let me know if this quote for replacing taps is acceptable please?

I hope you get your quotes.

But one thing I would tell you is plumbers and plasterers take the piss with their prices.

You can buy the fixings for plumbing very cheaply in toolstation or screwfix and it's really really not hard to do it yourself.

I would recommend having a bathroom or something done and watching the guy every day like a hawk. You'll learn enough to do it yourself for the rest of your life in any house you buy. You'll be able to fit kitchens and bathrooms and save thousands.

Same with plastering. Yes it's a skill but it's a skill that can be learned really quickly with just a few hours practice. Take a bare room and go at it. You'll fuck up but so what, it's a bare room. Just chisel it off and go again. You'll get the hang of it in literally a weekend and then you don't need a plasterer anymore.

There are caveats. Don't ever touch gas on your own. Get a professional gas registered fitter. Don't ever touch electrics on your own. Get a professional electrician. Don't ever remove walls on your own. Get a professional builder.

But plasterers, plumbers, painters and decorators, kitchen fitters, bathroom fitters, all that you can do yourself.

Joinery is a real skill, pay a professional.
