SECOND ROUND

Oregon vs. Saint Joseph's The Ducks have a versatile shot-blocker and rim protector in Chris Boucher, and he can stretch it out to 3-point range. In Oregon's past 18 games, 17 have been against the BPI top 100, and the Ducks have gone 13-4 during that span. Dillon Brooks is one of two Pac-12 players this season averaging at least 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game (Andrew Andrews at Washington is the other). Oregon has too many weapons for Saint Joseph's and will move on to the Sweet 16.

Baylor vs. Duke The Blue Devils are vulnerable to foul trouble and rebounding. Baylor will be able to take advantage of that, and Baylor will move on to the Sweet Sixteen because of its defense.

Texas vs. Texas A&M These two teams played in the Bahamas in November, and Texas A&M was the aggressor from tap to buzzer and beat the Longhorns. Both teams have improved, but Texas A&M is better overall. The Aggies will advance to the Sweet Sixteen by beating Texas.

Oklahoma vs. VCU Melvin Johnson has made more than 100 3-point shots, but he is not enough to combat Buddy Hield, Jordan Woodard and Isaiah Cousins. Oklahoma has handled the pressure of West Virginia and will handle the pressure brought on by Rams without turning the ball over.

SWEET 16

Oregon vs. Baylor This will be a matchup of very colorful uniforms, but Oregon has too many weapons for Baylor. This can be an upset, but I like Oregon to win the game. Oregon will play in the Elite Eight.

Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma The guard matchups can be a wash, but the difference might be Tyler Davis going against Khadeem Lattin. Texas A&M will advance to the Elite Eight.

ELITE EIGHT

Oregon vs. Texas A&M Texas A&M has a real challenge with Oregon, a team capable of winning the whole thing. Chris Boucher is a key player because he can stretch the floor and draw Tyler Davis away from the basket. While Oregon may be the better team in a seven-game series, Texas A&M can win, and will advance past No. 1 seed Oregon to reach the Final Four.

West Region champion: Texas A&M

East Region

FIRST ROUND

No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 16 Fairleigh Dickinson I have believed North Carolina to be the best team, and the Tar Heels performed at the highest level in the ACC tournament, especially on the defensive end. If the Tar Heels defend on that level for the next three weeks, North Carolina will cut down the nets in the East and advance to Houston. North Carolina is the top-ranked team in BPI. Brice Johnson's 19 double-doubles rank third among major conference players behind LSU's Ben Simmons (22) and Washington State's Josh Hawkinson (20). A No. 16 seed has never beaten a No. 1 seed, and North Carolina will not be the first. North Carolina will advance to the second round.

No. 8 USC vs. No. 9 Providence Andy Enfield was last in the NCAA tournament with Florida Gulf Coast, and marched to the Sweet Sixteen as a No. 15 seed. The Trojans have six players who average double figures in scoring, one of two major conference teams with six players averaging at least 10 points, Iowa State being the other. Julian Jacobs assists on 30 percent of USC's made shots while he's on the floor. Only Oregon State's Gary Payton II assists more in the Pac-12. Providence is shooting 41.7 percent from the floor this season; only St. John's (40.1) is worse in the Big East. In at least 24 percent of possessions used, Ben Bentil's 113.5 offensive rating ranks first in the Big East. Kris Dunn is the best point guard in the country, and between Dunn and Bentil, Providence will find a way to win and advance to play against North Carolina.

No. 5 Indiana vs. No. 12 Chattanooga The Hoosiers left corner shooters open against Michigan and lost. Still, Indiana is a capable team in NCAA tournament play. Yogi Ferrell is one of a handful of the best point guards in the country, and Indiana scores 119.5 points per 100 possessions, the most efficient offense in the nation. Ferrell (17.1 PPG, 5.5 APG) is on pace to be the only Indiana player to average at least 15 points and 5 assists per game in the past 20 seasons. Ferrell is Indiana's all-time leader in assists (607). Ferrell has recorded an assist in every game of his college career. Indiana will be able to get past Chattanooga to advance to the second round.

No. 4 Kentucky vs. No. 13 Stony Brook Jameel Warney has great hands, uses his body well and is relentless. But Kentucky averages 114.1 points per 100 possessions, the best offensive efficiency in the SEC. Jamal Murray's 20.0 points per game are on pace to be the most by a freshman in Kentucky history and sixth most by a freshman in SEC history. Tyler Ulis scored 30 points against Texas A&M in the SEC final. He will not let Kentucky lose to a No. 13 seed.

No. 6 Notre Dame vs. No. 11 Michigan The Irish played well against Duke, but got blitzed against North Carolina in the ACC tournament. Notre Dame turns over the ball on 14.8 percent of its possessions, fewest in the ACC. Zach Auguste has 18 double-doubles this season, tied for second most in the ACC (Brice Johnson, 19). Mike Brey will get Notre Dame in the right frame of mind to score efficiently, but Notre Dame will have to defend the 3-point line against Michigan. The Wolverines can shoot it, and Duncan Robinson, Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton have to dominate the game from deep. Michigan has to make at least 10 3-point shots to win, and the Wolverines will.

No. 3 West Virginia vs. No. 14 Stephen F. Austin Both of these teams like to force turnovers with up-tempo pressure. West Virginia is just a bit better at it. West Virginia presses on 37 percent of opponents' possessions, the highest press rate in the nation. Jaysean Paige is averaging 14.5 points per game off the bench this season, most in the Big 12 and on pace to be the third most in a season in Big 12 history. West Virginia will advance to the second round.

No. 7 Wisconsin vs. No. 10 Pittsburgh The Badgers have some difficult matchups in Nigel Hayes and Ethan Happ. Pittsburgh is a very good offensive team and has two great wings who create matchup problems in Jamel Artis and Michael Young. Pittsburgh struggles to defend, and Wisconsin can and will take advantage of that. The Badgers will move on to the second round.

No. 2 Xavier vs. No. 15 Weber State Xavier has not lost to a team outside the BPI top 100 this season. James Farr rebounds 15 percent of his teammates' missed shots when he is on the floor, the highest offensive rebounding percentage in the Big East. Guards Edmond Sumner and Trevon Bluiett are dynamic and explosive, and Xavier could very well be a Final Four team. Weber State has an absolute stud in Joel Bolomboy, who will be playing in the NBA. Xavier will beat Weber State and advance to the second round.

SECOND ROUND

North Carolina vs. Providence The Tar Heels will outrun and outrebound Providence. North Carolina will advance past Providence and reach the Sweet Sixteen.

Indiana vs. Kentucky Ulis and Murray form the best backcourt in the country. The key is whether the Kentucky big men can match the production of the guards by screening, running the floor, rebounding and defending at a high level. Kentucky will find a way to win and advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

Michigan vs. West Virginia The Wolverines can shoot it, but Michigan had better be prepared for full-court pressure, because they are going to get it. West Virginia has a workhorse in Devin Williams, and the Mountaineers expect to win, and will win.

Wisconsin vs. Xavier The Badgers struggled early, but figured it out; the Musketeers figured it out early but played tougher and tougher competition. Xavier has great balance, inside and out, and will advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
