I am 34 years old. I still live with my parents. I have been physically abused as a child and adult. In addition I have been severely emotionally/psychologically abused from childhood to present. In short, these are the primary reasons I am looking to change my name and move away.

My question is basically, will changing my name and moving to another state be enough?

I have have been mentally planning to buy property, build a house, but before doing so I would like to change my name in the state where I live first, and then move to another state before buying property in the state. My concern is that buying property puts your name on a county registry in which anyone can look up who owns whatever property/housing. If I change my name before buying property, my mother will still be able to look up court records and find the name change, but finding where I moved to and bought property at, in my opinion, will be more difficult for her to track down if it's in another state.

My mother is a paralegal and is extremely legally savvy, which is why I think she's been able to get away with everything they have in terms of abuse towards both myself and my brother. I want to get away from her and my dad. I don't want them to find me. She has full knowledge of the legal system, private investigators, looking up property records through counties, etc... Basically, she's very clever.

Is there anything else I can do? I've heard of name changes for domestic violence victims, however, she has recently had me arrested after calling the police and lying that I slapped her. Being that I am a male, age 34, I basically had to agree to a plea deal in order to not get assault 4 on my record. I am finally past the legal drama with her, but still living with her, and desperately want to get out, without either of my parents ever finding me again. I wish to have no relationship, contact, communication, etc...

Is there anything else I can do besides changing my name and moving away? If I change my name, do any of you think she will be able to find me if I move to another state and register property in my name?

I am not looking for judgment on living with my parents, and not going to go into full detail about why things are they way they are, just looking for advice. Please help...
