Can a Dynamic Stage Mic be used for voice acting?

I’ve done radio imaging and commercial VO for Entercom and IHR stations and many times had to record in their studios. The RE20 is the standard mic used in nearly every radio station and it’s a dynamic mic. So yes, you can get quality VO from one. My commercial demo includes mostly clips recorded in studio on an RE20. However, you’ll eventually want to upgrade to a large diaphragm condenser mic. You can get budget priced versions from Audio Technica or MXL that sound much better than an SM57/58. If you plan to do VO for a living you’ll want to invest in a quality mic like a TLM102/103/107 or even U87. If you have a voice with depth, the MKH416 is a great mic. Every pro VO studio I’ve been to usually has one of these large diaphragm mics and a shotgun. Mics are just tools. Like u/WolfVO said, you have to practice the craft (using the tools you have).
