Yes, definitely only look forward, but also I think this is too optimistic of advice. Cyber security is already you don't get to just break into (if you don't have experience programming or administering on a certain platform, how is anybody going to believe you can secure it as well).

Add the felony and it's going to be an absolute nightmare trying to get a job doing that.

If OP is really sold on cyber security, he needs to break into the industry as a developer or something first, and direct what projects you work on and where you go and what promotions you look for based off your long term goal of working security. With a felony, the only hope you have got is for nobody to care because they have worked with you for years already and know they can trust you.
