In my experience, being friends with unbelievers with the intention to bring them to Christ doesn’t always happen. Maybe it’s to plant seeds but that’s about it and the truth is, only God can draw them to Himself and we have no control over that. (John 6:44-45). Yes, we can be the salt if that means to try and live Holy lives as a example for them to see so that we do not give God a bad reputation and to not be a hypocrite so that they will glorify God one day but to say that we should be the salt by being friends with unbelievers is not what the Bible is saying we should do. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18) I’ve stopped being friends with unbelievers and cut ties with my non-believing families because I thought I could bring them to Christ but it became so toxic to the point where it became very unhealthy for me. Jesus is my only friend and I’m glad that I only have one other friend in my life who also loves Jesus Christ and is equally passionate for him as I am. That’s enough for me.
