I can imagine the drug-addict parents who stole these toy donations are regulars on this sub.

“ Basically, normal people are using services meant for the poor and needy to turn a profit.“ What? I’m sorry but flipping items sold at a thrift store that you purchased legally is vastly different than stealing from a donation site.

I'm sure that folks making Christmas donations thought the items will go the needy. Food donations are generally expected to help others as well. You can get an itemized tax deduction for clothing donations to Goodwill.

God Forbid people expect those donations to go to the needy - or at least be used as a concession-like shop - and not exploited by someone to literally quit their job and contributions to society in order to profit off the donations from others.

It's about profiting from the donations made by others.

If this was all about offering your money and time in exchange for services like the Salvation's sobriety programs, or Goodwill's employment programs, then normal human beings will buy from them for themselves. People who game these donations will be interested in offering those profits to philanthropy.

The man who buys these donations to resell them for a family vacation, or the woman who quit her healthcare worker who quit to live off of thrift-shopping entirely, are NOT doing this for any sort of philanthropic drive to help with various programs. We are NOT talking about the average Joe who enjoys buying from a concession shop.

You're crazy if you think these particular people are doing it to help others. But hey, if you're willing to say that people who donate their things do not give a crap what happens to it or whether it helps others, then you're no different than those thefts who probably said, "It's not like the folks who donated these toys cares what happens to them."
