Spells that say they create illusions in the part of the spell that describes what the spell does. For example, Minor Illusion, Silent Image, Major Image”
Technically NONE of those have a description of “create illusions or create an illusion” in their descriptions.
Major Image description “You create the image of an object, a creature, or some other visible phenomenon that is no larger than a 20-foot cube......No descriptions of you “create an illusion” in there.
Silent image: “You create the image of an object, a creature, or some other visible phenomenon that is no larger than a 15-foot cube” .... again no mention of you “create an illusion” in there.
Minor Illusions Description: “You create a sound or an image of an object within range that lasts for the duration.” ..... Again it doesn’t say you “create an illusion ” in there.
Spells called out as creating illusions.
Er.. no. I'm following what is stated in the spell text. As we do with every other spell. As opposed to inferring something that's not written there.
And your apple example is just.. weird. Creation creates, ''a nonliving object of vegetable matter within range: soft goods, rope, wood, or something similar.
I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, really. Is the player using a different spell to create an illusion of an apple?
No they are using creation to create the physical real object that is acting like an illusion of a real apple.... think of fake food you might see in a restaurant or as decoration on a table in a demo house. It’s not a real apple but it is an illusion of real fruit formed from styrofoam, but made out of magical styrofoam that taste and smells like apple. It’s a physical object that gives the illusion it is a real apple.
The player is still making an object which you argue creation makes objects not illusions but it is a physical object that illusory looks smell and tastes like a real apple...... therefore also an illusion!
Again just replace apple with great sword if the “ non-living” part of the spells description is still being an issue.
Does the spell text say it makes an illusion?
Then great - Malleable Illusion works, assuming the spell meets the other criteria of the ability.
