can you be misdiagnosed with bipolar 1 and 2?

I've heard of people "converting" from 2 to 1 after experiencing only mild episodes and then a full-blown manic episode hits.

If you're on an antidepressant and experience a manic episode, that's not really criteria for a diagnosis, even though antidepressants have a long, documented history of being baaaad for bipolar.

You said you've done drugs (that confuses things but really common for bipolar people). Mania, full-blown mania is like cocaine. It's a very obvious state and there's no doubt about it. You'd be frantic, missing days of sleep, running around, focusing on things that don't even matter, talking absolute nonsense.

Antidepressants can trigger this even in a type II person I've heard. It doesn't make you type 1, you're just wrongly medicated. You need stabilizers.
