Can we NOT let Steam/Valve off the hook for charging us and mod creators 75% profit per sale on mods? We yell at every other major studio for less.

I'm part of the demographic that doesn't spend any money on microtransactions so naturally I'm not the demographic who is just going to be okay wait paying for user made mods that have no guarantee to work and no accountability to be kept up to date.

I'm all for compensating huge overhaul mods that are new story content as well as completely updating every detail such as the Black Mesa mod (I will be buying the full release to show my support of what they've done) and that Skyrim mod that adds a whole new world and story content. As for user made armor or sword or any other little change, those will never see any money from me. I especially don't think valve and the game dev should be making 75% of the money from each purchase. Yes, if paid mods stick around, they should definitely get some percentage of it since it's valve's platform and the game dev's IP, but leaving the person who created the content being sold with only 25% is a rip off in my opinion. Yes, there's a chance that some people will be encouraged to do bigger third party DLC since they will be able to receive money for it, but in my eyes (again, just speculation since we're on day 2 of this) it's more likely to bring in droves of low quality garbage and bloat the workshop in the hopes of making a few dollars. It's what happened with Steam in general since they lowered the bar of getting a game on the platform.

If it turns out that it brings in a ton of high quality content that isn't really just skins, I'd be ecstatic, but I just really don't see it going that way. It just feels like Valve had good intentions with a side intention of making some more money, but I just think the way they implemented it feels mishandled and not fully thought through. Hopefully this is an adequate explanation of my stance for you, because I'm at work now so I'm probably not going to be able to respond much anymore.
